Homemade Gifts

Handmade Tales – Daily Post offering for today, the last day of July. It asks: Automation has made it possible to produce so many objects — from bread to shoes — without the intervention of human hands (assuming that pressing a button doesn’t count). What things do you still prefer in their traditional, handmade version?

It’s taken a long time for me to love the words ‘homemade’ and I must confess that I don’t use that word to describe what I do. I call it exercising my creative side…being an ‘artiste’.

I adore cooking and baking. Food just tastes better homemade. So I make bread, cookies, hummus, pizza dough, pico de gallo, my own spaghetti and enchilada sauces all from scratch

I needlepoint and hand stitch Christmas ornaments for nieces and nephews.

I took a gourd carving class a few years ago and now make small items for friends…they seem to enjoy them. gourd
